Is laser ablation safe?
There are many aspects that make laser ablation a safer option over media blasting. The only real safety equipment that is required is eye protection. The glasses we have are designed for the specific wavelength the laser performs at. There are no protective suits or hearing protection that is required to operate our equipment.
Is laser ablation better than media blasting?
There isn't a single solution that is perfect for every application. Laser ablation does have many positive attributes over media blasting. There is no need to stock up on any number of different medias. The only thing needed to operate this technology is a 120 volt plug. Laser ablation works for many applications, however, if the rust or paint is too thick, this might not be the best option for you. Where the power of a laser is not needed and grinding or media blasting are approved, it may be cost effective to use media blasting. Every tool has an application where it is better than others, let NVA Laser help you decide when laser ablation will help you out.
